Have returned from my Thailand Master (The Phinisi) liveaboard this October and logged my 600th dive, blog will be updated shortly.
The latest Red Sea liveaboard blog aboard thr MV Tranquility is now complete.
See the Bahamas Liveaboard blog - the diving holiday that didn't happen!
Also added the new Dive Summary (seen above) which lists the highlights of my many dives.
Have completed two libeaboards in 2024 (Egypt and Thailand) in quick succession, adding in total 36 dives to my tally and taking me over the 600 dives marker. Both liveaboards were, in my opinion, of an extremely high standard in terms of vessel, crew and dive guides, food, accommodation and dive interest and I can highly recommend both with the operators I went with. See the dive blogs for details.
Capernwray trip was a nice relaxing couple of days away. For some reason I couldn't find my membership card so had to pay £5 for a replacement. Vis wasn't all that good, no more than about 10 mtrs, so it was a good time to practice compass navigation. My dove buddy did OK, he found all the right locations, just not in the right order! After 3 good dives, the valve in my BCD inflator hose started to leak, typical, I have spare hoses at home but none with me. Managed to hire one from the shop for the day.
A recent trip to Mexico in June 2023 was a bit of a disaster, I only got one dive in whilst I was there. I had hoped for 3 days of diving with Blue Experience, a dive company I have used before, however they have changed hands so I didn't recognise anyone. There had been some bad weather on the days preceding my dives and the harbour was closed, hence no dives, but I did manage to get one dive only.
It was a little bit annoying really, because I have already told them I would be interested in a trip over to Cozumel but, first it was on, then it was off, then it was on again and they sent me an email asking me if I was interested - duh. By the time I got the email and said yes, they had already let the space go to someone else. Why they didn't ring me I do not know.
Gozo. Loss of an iconic natural feature.
The image on the right is the Blue Hole and Azure Window on Gozo. Sadly the Azure Window is no longer there, destroyed by a storm on 9th March 2017 at 9:40am. Both the limestone arch and the stacks on either side of it are gone. A sad loss of a natural beauty site for everyone.
